广东高考英语试题从2007年开始采用新题型，语法考查题取消了单选题，新设了语法填空题。虽然新题型已经推行了三年多，但是在各种教辅资料和交流试题中，还是发现了不少自创的语法填空题设题不恰当。
  我归纳有如下几种情况：

  一、填实词
  如：A hobby is like gold under the ground and it will not come to you unless you ____ it out yourself.
  横线上应该填一个动词，因为句子缺少谓语动词。根据上下文意义，应该填“dig(挖)”，但是实意动词是不应该出现在语法填空中的，只能是给词变换形式。正确的设题应当是：
  The exam , which was originally to be held in our classroom, _____________(change) to the library at the minute.  答案：was changed 
  如上题，动词在括号中给出，根据上下文填出动词的正确形式：谓语（过去时被动语态）
  其他类似不当有要求填名词、形容词、（描述性）副词等。这一类题是完全不符合设题要求的。

  二、答案不具唯一性
  比如2007年广州一模试题：
  Ms Chen [34]__________ (teach) me English since Junior 1, and to show my [35]_________ (appreciate) I decided to get her a present. 
  其中第34题的答案竟然有四种：had taught/had been teaching/has taught/has been teaching ，填任何一种都可以得分。我觉得这样做的缺点是容易让学生迷惘，进退两难，导向性不明；另外这样一来这道题的区分度就大大降低了。
  还容易出现争议的是状语从句，比如引导原因状语从句的连词就有：because, as, since等，最后是上下文很明确该填哪一个，这几次之间还是有细微区别的。当然，考查得太细也没有必要。

  三、考点分布不均
  看一篇语法填空题：
  Members of the working class have blue-collar jobs. They are construction workers, truck drivers, steel workers, and the like. ______ makes this class differ from the lower class is, first, longer periods of employment -- and therefore, more _____(fix) incomes —and, second, employment in skilled or semiskilled _________(occupy), not unskilled ones. Although unemployment hits all levels of the American economy, including those of skilled and semi-skilled workers, it is most common ___ the bottom of the class structure and _________(increase) less common at each level upward. They consider themselves to be _______ (respect)and hard working and they look down upon members of the "lower" class, _______ they often consider to be lazy, dishonest, and ____ ready to exploit public ________(assist). In fact, much of their work is ordinary and boring, so many place their expectations on their children, ______(hope) that they will rise in the ladder of success.
  算一算，一篇语法填空题中给词题竟然有6道，数量太多！一般来说，一篇语法填空题的给词题应当控制在3到4题。
  在设置题目的时候，要有一条原则就是尽可能多地覆盖更多不同的考点，而避免设置相同的考点。
 
  四、考点重复
  考点不均的时候，就可能出现考点重复的现象。比如同一篇语法填空题不要出现填两个甚至三个相同类型的空，比如都是定语从句的引导词。也许是三个不同的引导词，但毕竟同是定语从句一个点。所以不要第一题填了关系代词which，接着一题又要填关系代词that或关系副词when或where。
  还有的设题甚至填同一个词，这种情况也最后避免。

  五、选材太难
  看这一篇试题：
  China`s influence on the world`s political and economic order has been steadily increasing. Over the past decades, the international political and economic order has been still controlled by a __31 (hand) of developed countries, 32 the majority of developing nations have been ignored despite their rising calls for the establishment of a new world order. In the 1980s, the Chinese leadership, well aware of the core of the complicated international situation, 33 (repeat) called for a new international political and economic order 34 (set up) on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and made continual efforts toward this. 35 its peaceful foreign policy and self-development, China has played an increasingly bigger role in the formulation of the long-expected new international order.
China`s provision of sufficient food and clothing to 36 large population, one-fifth of the world`s total, is itself a big contribution to world peace and security. Over the past decades, China ha s never stopped safeguarding the authority of the United Nations and 37 (participate) in UN-led multilateral (多边的) activities. It has 38 actively carried 39 cooperation with other countries on economic, anti-terror, arms control, peacekeeping, human rights, and environmental issues to better deal with the world`s major challenges and hot spots. China`s extensive cooperation with the rest of the world on trade, finance, investment and energy has also contributed a lot 40 international efforts towards the establishment of an open and just trade system and the improvement of the current international financial system. All these will help trade disputes be resolved through dialog and negotiation.
  这一篇材料的主要内容是说中国在建立世界新的政治经济秩序方面的作用。
  可以说专业性太强，也更偏重文科。
  生词量也比较大。
  同时也引出另一个问题。

  六、文章的长度问题
  一般来说，语法填空的文章的字数应该在180左右，上面一篇材料字数竟然超过了260，比常规字数多出了80个！这样学生的解题时间就要成倍增加！
  文章过短，则设题密度会太大，影响上下文理解。
  文章过长，需要过多的阅读时间。

  所以，不是随便一段文章段落都可以拿来设语法填空的。选用的文章不要在内容的理解上给学生设置太大难度，要让学生看得懂。因为这道题主要考察的是语法，不是阅读理解（虽然也有阅读要求，但不是主要）或者词汇。考点主要是功能词（虚词）和动词（谓语和非谓语）。另外，设置的题目要从篇章考虑，毕竟是给的一篇文章。
  总的来说，高三老师一定要研究这道题的设置目的要求，否则编写出不恰当的题目给学生练习不仅会浪费学生时间，甚至会误导学生从而形成错误的解题思路。
